Man drunk on plane at Liverpool airport denies racist rant

A man who was drunk on a Liverpool flight has denied that he also went on a racist rant.

Louis Mann today admitted being drunk on the plane while at Liverpool John Lennon Airport but said he was not racist on December 19 last year.

The 28-year-old is now due to stand trial over the charge.

Mann, of Euston Grove, Morecambe, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today before Judge Louise Brandon.

He pleaded guilty to one count of being drunk in an aircraft on the Warsaw flight and denied one allegation of racially aggravated harassment.

Mike Stevenson, prosecuting, confirmed that the Crown Prosecution Service wished to continue the prosecution in respect of the racially aggravated charge.

David Traynor today represented Mann at the court hearing.

Mann wore a blue suit and a musically-themed tie as he stood next to the dock and entered his pleas.

He was released on unconditional bail after the hearing concluded.

Mann will appear for trial at Liverpool Crown Court on May 24.
