Man drowns at south coast beach despite CPR efforts

In the first warm week of spring, a man has died in a suspected drowning on a south coast beach.

About 4.50pm on Thursday, emergency services were called to Manyana Beach after a man appeared to be struggling in the water.

A NSW Police spokesperson said a passerby pulled the male from the water and commenced CPR.

The man died at the scene.

Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the scene, and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
