Man drowned in hot tub after visiting pub and beach on holiday

A Liverpool man drowned in a hot tub during a holiday in North Wales.

Ian William Foden, of Stapleton Avenue died on September 24 during a visit to the Prestatyn area and an inquest into his death was opened this week. John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales east and central, said Mr Foden had been to the pub shortly before he died.

After a trip to the pub and then to the beach with relatives, Mr Foden went back to the property and got into the hot tub, North Wales Live reports. Mr Foden did not get out of the hot tub with his relatives and was later found dead "face down" in the water.

The inquest opening heard how a neighbour helped to pull Mr Foden from the hot tub, but sadly he was already dead and couldn't be saved with CPR. A post mortem resulted in a provisional cause of death being given as drowning. A full inquest will be heard next year, the coroner confirmed.
