Man high on ice, driving stolen car in St Peters fatal crash pleads guilty

A man who crashed a stolen car and killed two people in Sydney's inner-west was high on methamphetamine at the time of the collision and had been at the centre of a police pursuit.

Raymond Lomas, 33, appeared anxious while appearing in Central Local Court via video link today as he pleaded guilty to upgraded charges of manslaughter while under the influence.

Two men travelling in a sedan, Alex Theodore, 62, and Junior Saini, 49, were both killed when Mr Lomas drove a four-wheel drive ute through a red light on the Princes Highway in St Peters last year.

Mr Lomas was substantially impaired by ice when ploughed into the two men who were on their way to work.

He had allegedly committed a number of aggravated break-and-enters in the days leading up to the crash and was driving while disqualified.

Mr Lomas had also been involved in three pursuits just prior to the crash.

He will face Sydney District Court on February 9.

The charge of dangerous driving occasioning death was dropped in exchange for Mr Lomas pleading guilty to manslaughter.

He has also pled guilty to driving a stolen car.
