Police have stopped a man who had driven around 300 miles because he wanted his girlfriend to see Tenby.
Officers carrying out stop checks in Pembrokeshire over the weekend pulled over a van on Sunday that was travelling on the A477 near the village of Stepaside.
When asked by police for his reason for travelling, the man behind the wheel said he had driven from Essex.
Furthermore, he had picked up his girlfriend in Cardiff and then carried on heading west to Pembrokeshire.
Both the driver and his girlfriend were reported for non-essential travel.
A spokesman for the Pembrrokeshire Road Policing Unit of Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Numerous vehicles, both from within and outside of the force area, have been stop checked throughout Sunday evening.
“In general the roads are quiet and those spoken to have had valid reasons behind their travel.
“We have however stop checked a vehicle from Essex, heading east on the A477 at Stepaside.
“The driver stated he’d picked his girlfriend up in Cardiff earlier, before carrying on west to show her Tenby.”
As well as being reported for breaching lockdown regulations, police say the driver was also reported for driving with an expired MOT, before being escorted out of Pembrokeshire.
Police forces continue to patrol Welsh roads as lockdown restrictions on travel remain in place.
While in England, people are permitted to travel as far as they like in order to exercise, in Wales people are reminded that they must “stay local” and that failure to do so could result in a fixed penalty notice being issued by police.
