Man drives hijacked pickup truck wrong way down motorway in hour-long police car chase

A man has been arrested after a high-speed police chase that lasted almost two hours.

The pursuit, which took place in Kansas, involved the driver speeding dangerously down the wrong way of various highways, through wooded areas and across a golf course.

Multiple times through the chase the driver reached speeds of over 100 mph, leading police across five cities and into the neighbouring state of Missouri.

Police say the chase began when, at an unrelated incident, the white Nissan clipped an officer’s vehicle, before fleeing the scene.

Video from a police helicopter shows the man forcing other cars to pull over to allow him past as he carries on down the wrong way of snow-covered motorways.

“He was coming across my backyard and right onto the golf course,” one witness told KSHB.

“It was the type of thing that took a while to process. You’re thinking, I really didn’t see that.”

Officers eventually caught up with the driver, and the chase ended peacefully.
