Man drives away after smashing into Great Western Road bus stop

A van has smashed a bus stop on Great Western Road after the driver allegedly left the handbrake on when he left the vehicle.

The driver then got back into the van and drove away - with smashed glass still on his bonnet.

Eyewitnesses told Glasgow Live they watched the van roll about 15 metres before hitting the bus stop.

They said: "It was close call that no one was waiting there at all.

"The van was parked up near a black car and just rolled all the way onto the pavement in the bus stop glass.

"The driver came back after couple minutes in confusion, that’s when person pointed out his hand break wasn’t up.

"He reversed and then drove off with glass still on his bonnet."

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We received a report around 11.55am on Saturday, 19 September, of a one vehicle crash on Great Western Road, Glasgow, involving a van and a bus shelter. There were no injuries.”
