A man with a machete reportedly broke into a house in the early hours of the morning.
Armed police were called to Lenthall Street, in Walton, at around 3.20am on Monday, September 26, to reports a man had got into a house. The homeowner told police that the suspect was dressed in black clothing and was carrying a machete.
Merseyside police believe that the incident is a case of mistaken identify and that the suspect had targeted the wrong house. Two other men were spotted outside of the house at the time of the break in.

The first suspect was described as around 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, dressed in black with a hood up. He was confronted by the people inside the house and made off without anything being stolen or injuries caused.
Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: "We initially think that this was a case of mistaken identity, resulting in the occupants understandably fearing for their safety. Thankfully no threats were made with the weapon or injuries caused, but nonetheless it will have been a frightening experience and we are supporting them as our enquiries continue.
"I'd urge anyone who lives locally and may have dashcam, home CCTV or doorbell footage to please check and let us know. We're determined to find those responsible and put them before the courts. If you have information, contact us @MerPolCC or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with reference 22000713575 and we will take action."
