A man was "dragged from his car" during a hijacking in North Belfast this afternoon, in what has been described as a "terrifying ordeal".
Police are appealing for information following the incident in the Hopewell Avenue area at around 2.50pm, when two men are reported to have dragged another out of his vehicle before stealing it and making off in the direction of the Crumlin Road.
The car was found a short time later on fire in the Denmark Street area.
Two men, one in his 30s the other in his 40s, have since been arrested and are currently helping officers with their enquiries.
It is the second vehicle reportedly hijacked in the Crumlin Road area over the weekend, following an incident on Saturday, July 31, where a Nurse from the Mater Hospital had their car taken.
Detective Sergeant Wilson said: "The car was found set alight in the Denmark Street area a short time later. Colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended and extinguished the blaze.
"This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim.
"Two men, one aged in his thirties and one in his forties, have been arrested and are currently helping with enquiries.
"If you were in the area from Hopewell Avenue to Denmark Street at the time and saw anything, or may have dashcam footage, please contact police on 101 quoting reference 1241 of 1/8/21."
