Man downed 10 pints and punched three people in Bedminster

A combination of lack of medication and 10 pints of beer resulted in three men being assaulted in Bedminster.

Christopher Knight was handed a suspended jail term on September 7, Bristol Crown Court heard.

But, having been released from custody without the medication he needed, two days later he got drunk and punched three men in the street.

Knight, 26, whose address was given as Wade Street in St Jude's, admitted three charges of assault by beating.

On Tuesday, October 27, Judge Michael Longman handed him a two-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

The judge told him: "All (the assaults) were entirely unprovoked and will have left all three victims shocked at the time and, in the longer term, nervous about going out and going about their lawful daily activities."

The judge gave Knight a four months curfew in which he must stay indoors between 5pm and 5am.

He was ordered to pay each of his victims £200 compensation.

Neil Treharne, prosecuting, told the court Knight punched Zachariah Thompson in the face in Bedminster Parade.

The court heard Knight also squared up to Raymond Clarke, punching him in the nose.

He also punched Ben Tamblin to the left side of his head.

Knight told police he had been out in Bristol, got drunk, and could not recall a thing before waking up in the police station.

He was extremely remorseful, saying he had drank eight to 10 pints of Guinness and John Smith's beer as well as a Jagerbomb and was "drunk but merry".

Matthew Comer, defending, said his client had been released from custody without his medication and, when properly medicated, could function properly.
