Cheese and crackers are the perfect after-dinner (or literally any other time) snack we always manage to find room for.
But it turns out we may have all been missing a genius trick after one man thinks he discovered why many crackers have jagged edges - and it's even been approved by the makers.
TikTok user @Lucas.Rutherford uploaded a video with the caption: "Today years old when I found this out...", gaining nearly a quarter of a million views.
Lucas then claims the edges of the round crackers are designed to be able cut cheese into the right size without the use of a knife, saying: "If you get these biccies with the jagged edges, you've just got to roll them across the cheese."
Demonstrating the hack, he holds the cracker firmly and pushes it over the cheese on the plate, splitting it perfectly down the middle.
The crackers used in the viral video are made by Australian firm Arnott's, which issued a response after many questioned if Lucas had uncovered the secret.
The brand told News.com.au : "Whilst we can’t confirm the edges were originally created for slicing cheese, the sturdiness and scalloped edge of the Savoy gives it enough strength to handle this operation.
"The secret to its cheese cutting success might lie in the number of ridges on each biscuit, which many don’t know."
Thousands of people were left wondering why they had never figured out the trick for themselves, as one commented: "Bro... this is my go to snack... HOW DID I NOT FIGURE THIS OUT??!!"
A second said: "Ok you've added to my life significantly."
Another wrote: "Ahhh! I've waste so much time until now!"
