Man dies with COVID in ACT, 458 new cases

Canberra has recorded 458 COVID-19 cases and one death in the latest reporting period. (AAP)

A man in his 80s has become the latest fatality from COVID-19 in the ACT.

The man is the 33rd person to have died with the virus in the national capital since the start of the pandemic.

It comes as Canberra recorded 458 new cases in the latest reporting period.

The new cases included 186 positive PCR tests while there were a further 272 positive cases recorded from rapid antigen tests.

Hospitalisations continue their downward trend, with 37 patients being treated.

Of those, one is in intensive care and on a ventilator.

The latest vaccination figures show 64.7 per cent of people 16 and over have received their booster shot in the ACT.

Meanwhile, 77.5 per cent of five- to 11-year-olds have received their first vaccine dose.
