Man dies suddenly on Irish farm as investigation launched

A man has tragically died on a farm near the Derry and Donegal border.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in the Coshquin area at around 5pm on Monday.

Northern Ireland's Health and Safety Executive said they have been made aware of the man's death and are making further enquiries, Belfast Live reports.

No further details are available at this stage.

A PSNI spokesman said officers had been alerted to the man's death and are not treating it as suspicious.

A spokesperson for HSENI said: “HSENI is aware of the incident on a farm on the Coshquin Road, Londonderry this afternoon, and is making enquires.

"Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family at this tragic time."

Sinn Féin MLA Martina Anderson said the local community was shocked and saddened by the death.

The Foyle MLA said: “The local community were shocked and saddened to learn of the death of a man on a farm at Coshquin on the outskirts of Derry.

“An investigation into the cause of the man’s death is now underway.

“My thoughts are with the family, friends and loved ones of the man who lost his life at this sad and difficult time.”
