A factory worker has died suddenly at a Scots fuel pump plant.

The 48-year-old worker took unwell during his shift at Dundee's Dover Fuelling Solutions last night.

Emergency crews raced to the scene at around 10.35pm but he was pronounced dead when they arrived at the facility.

His cause of death is unknown at this time but police have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances.

A spokesman for the force said: "Around 10.35pm on Wednesday 3 March 2020, police were called to premises in West Pitkerro Industrial Estate where a man had taken ill.

“The 48-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be forwarded to the procurator fiscal."

A statement from Dover Fueling Solutions said: “We are deeply saddened by the unexpected and tragic loss of our colleague.

“While the cause of his sudden death is not yet known, our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this very difficult time.”

In December the fuel pump manufacturer axed more than 100 workers.
