Murder charge laid following man's death a week after bashing at Adelaide High School

Police search the Adelaide High School car park for evidence on the night of the man's alleged bashing.

Charges against an Adelaide man have been upgraded to murder after an alleged bashing victim died over the weekend.

Police believe the 24-year-old man from Ridleyton, in Adelaide's western suburbs, was set upon by up to four others outside Adelaide High School on August 28.

He died in hospital on Saturday.

Police say he was attacked at the school car park on West Terrace and dropped off at the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious head injuries.

A 23-year-old man from the CBD was charged the next day with aggravated assault causing serious harm and appeared in court on August 31, when he applied for bail.

He appeared in court again today, charged with murder, and withdrew his bail application.

Police want to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the school car park or at the Welland Plaza Shopping Centre car park, where it is believed the victim had been earlier in the night.

His white Toyota Corolla was found there.

Police are particularly looking for dashcam vision from either car park.
