Man dies on Scots mountain after ‘falling unwell’ during Easter bank holiday hill climb

A man has tragically died after falling unwell during a hill climb in the Trossachs.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Ben Ledi at around 2.10pm on Saturday, April 16.

Volunteers from Killin Mountain Rescue Team raced to help the stricken 48-year-old alongside Police Scotland and HM Coastguard.

Despite the best efforts of medics, the man, who has not yet been named, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal, as is the case with all sudden deaths.

A statement from the force said: “Officers received reports of a man having taken unwell on Ben Ledi near Callander around 2.10pm on Saturday, 16 April, 2022.

“Emergency services, including the Killin Mountain Rescue Team, attended and a 48-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a full report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
