Man dies on M8 after being hit by several cars while walking on busy carriageway

A man has died after being hit by multiple cars while walking along the busy M8 in Glasgow.

The victim was by struck by several vehicles last night after walking on a lane near Baillieston and westbound between Junction 7A and Junction 8.

Police raced to the scene at around 8.45pm and discovered the man, who has not yet been identified, dead on arrival.

They have now launched a probe into the horrific incident.

The road has now been shut off sparking delays and traffic chaos as investigations continue.

Sergeant Scott Sutherland, Motherwell Road Policing Unit, said: "We have yet to find out who the man is and also why he was walking on the carriageway.

"We are appealing to anyone who saw the incident happen, or to those who may have dash-cam footage and who have not already spoken to officers to get in touch.

"The man is described as white, between 20 to 40 years of age, wearing a black Karrimor jacket, black jogging bottoms and black and grey Nike trainers.

"If you have any information about the crash or can assist with identifying the man, then please contact officers at Motherwell Road Policing Unit via 101. Please quote reference number 3302 of 19 November, 2020, when calling."
