Man dies after being found on Edinburgh street

A 52-year-old man has died after being found on a street in Edinburgh.

Police said they were called to Piersfield Terrace in Craigentinny, on Saturday evening after reports of a man lying on the busy street.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he sadly died.

The incident, which was first reported in the Scottish Sun, happened near to a bus shelter outside Machine Mart tool store just before 5.30pm.

The newspaper reports that the man's body was lying for around an hour before emergency services were called.

Police Scotland said: "Police were called around 5.25pm on Saturday April 18 to a report of a man unwell on Piersfield Terrace, Edinburgh. Officers and ambulance attended the 52-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary were he died a short time later."
