Man dies of complications 7 months after shooting near Marquette Park barbershop

A 48-year-old man who was shot last year outside a barbershop in Marquette Park has died from his injuries.

Karl Henry was pronounced dead about 8 a.m. Feb. 1 at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Autopsy results released Tuesday found he died of complications from multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the Grand Crossing neighborhood.

About 11:15 p.m. June 8, 2019, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 6800 block of South Western Avenue and found two men with gunshot wounds, Chicago police have said.

Henry was struck in the face, shoulder, chest and back and was lying on the sidewalk, authorities said. The other man, 32, was found inside the barbershop with a gunshot wound to the back.

They were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition at the time, police said.
