A man died more than a month after he was struck by a vehicle in south suburban Ford Heights.

Joseph Nichols, 30, was hit at midnight Dec. 6 at Woodlawn Avenue and East Lincoln Highway, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at Kindred Chicago Lakeshore at 9:43 a.m. Monday.

Autopsy results released Tuesday found he died of complications from multiple blunt force injuries as a result of being hit by a vehicle, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled an accident.

Ford Heights police didn’t immediately respond to a request for details about the incident.
