A man wounded in a shooting over the summer in Englewood died of his injuries Tuesday.

Devonta Jones, 27, was pronounced dead about 6:30 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Jones and a 26-year-old man were shot about 8:15 p.m. May 15 in the 6600 block of South Wolcott Avenue, Chicago police said.

Jones was struck in the neck and transported to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, while the younger man was hit in the leg and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.

An autopsy released Wednesday ruled Jones died from the gunshot wound to the neck and complications from quadriplegia. His death was ruled a homicide.
