A man has died after a fire at a block of flats in Glasgow this morning.
Fire crews and officers from Police Scotland were called to Parnie Street in the Trongate area of the city just after 1.30am following reports of a blaze.
As a result, a man was removed from the building and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service personnel battled flames at the flats for around five hours in the early hours.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At 1.40 this morning on December 27, 2019 police were called to reports of a fire on Parnie Street, Glasgow.
"One man was removed from the building where he was pronounced dead at the scene."
Three pumps and an aerial unit rushed to the scene to tackle the inferno.
