Man dies in 'tragic' crash on country road near Newark

A man has died in a crash on a country road in Nottinghamshire.

Nottinghamshire Police say two vehicles were involved in a crash on the A616 between Kersall Road and Norwell Woodhouse Road, near Newark, on Saturday, June 26.

The incident happened at around 7.20am and the road was closed for most of the day while investigations took place.

A 28-year-old man was seriously injured and died at the scene.

Police Sergeant Mark Baker, of Nottinghamshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was a tragic incident in which a young man lost his life far too soon.

"As with all road traffic collisions where people are killed or seriously injured we are working hard to understand exactly what happened.

“The victim's family are being supported by specially trained officers and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.”

"If you witnessed this incident or were travelling along the road immediately before the collision please contact 101 quoting incident 147 of 26 June 2021. We are particularly keen to hear from you if you have any dashcam footage.”
