Man dies in second bad crash last week

A MAN has died after he lost control of his car and crashed at Rutherford on Friday night, the second fatal crash on the stretch of road in less than a week.

Police said emergency services were called to Anambah Road, near the intersection with the New England Highway, about 11.55pm on Friday after reports a vehicle had left the road and crashed.

When police arrived they found the vehicle well alight. NSW Fire and Rescue firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the driver and sole occupant of the car could not be saved. He died at the scene. Police will prepare a report for the coroner.

The tragic fatal crash is the second life lost on Anambah Road in less than a week.

Emergency services were called to the stretch of road about 9pm on November 7 after a Ford ute left the roadway and hit a guardrail.

The front passenger seat was thrown from the vehicle, police said, and the passenger, a 29-year-old man, died at the scene.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, was arrested and later charged with dangerous driving occasioning death.
