The crash involved a black Vauxhall Mokka car and a lorry and happened minutes before midnight last night on the A55 in Anglesey.

The driver of the car, a 64-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Darren Newby of the Roads Policing Unit said: “The collision occurred at around 11:53pm last night (December 31), and involved a black Vauxhall Mokka car and a heavy goods vehicle. Both vehicles were in the eastbound lane.

“We are looking for information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have information on the nature of the driving of the black Vauxhall Mokka involved prior to the collision, or who may have dashcam footage."

Police urged drivers to avoid the area as officers, paramedics and firefighters dealt with the incident.

The road was re-opened at around 6am.
