A MAN has died after his motorbike collided with a ute in the Hunter Valley on Saturday.
About 12.25pm emergency services responded to reports of a motorcycle and utility crash on the Great North Road, Laguna.
Police were told a man riding a motorbike in a northerly direction, collided with a ute in the southbound lane.
The 49-year-old man was treated at the scene by paramedics, but was pronounced deceased a short time later. The occupants of the ute, a man and woman, were not injured in the crash.
Hunter Valley police established a crime scene and a report is being prepared for the Coroner.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service was called to the serious crash, one of five airlift call outs in the space of 18 hours.
It started about midnight when the Belmont based crew was called to Bulahdelah to assist a lady believed to be in her 30s. The woman had earlier in the evening been injured in a heavy tackle during a soccer match, suffering neck pain.
The aircraft rendezvoused with local NSW Ambulance paramedics at Bulahdelah Showground to airlift the woman to Newcastle for further assessment and treatment at the John Hunter Hospital.
Aircrew were also called to a single vehicle incident on the Thunderbolts Way approximately 20 kilometres south of Nowendoc. A man in his 50s was airlifted to Tamworth Base Hospital in a stable condition.
About 9am a man in his 60s sustained serious injuries in Merriwa when he fell from his horse. The animal then rolled onto the man compounding his multiple injuries.
He was treated on scene by local emergency services and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter's critical care medical team before being flown to the John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
An emergency call was also received from Monkerai near Dungog on Friday night after a female in her 40's was seriously injured when her motor vehicle collided with a kangaroo.
The lady was treated on scene for multiple leg and facial injuries before being flown to the John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
