A man died in a serious road crash in the early hours of Thursday in Southport.
At around 2.30am, emergency services were called to Norwood Road, at its junction with Hart Street, where it was reported there had been a collision involving a silver Audi A4 and a stationary white Toyota car.
The driver of the Audi – a 51-year-old man - was taken to Southport Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by roads policing officers.
A section of the road was closed for most of the night while emergency services dealt with the incident.
The road has since re-opened.
