Man dies in hospital two days after horror car smash on rural Bolton road

A man has died in hospital after his car crashed into a tree on a rural road in Bolton.

The man - who police say was in his 70s - was involved in a horror collision when his vehicle hit a tree on Boot Lane, off Moss Bank Way, at around 11.20am on Friday, July 30.

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene and the road was closed for hours after police taped the area off.

The man was driving the car and was the only person injured in the incident.

He was treated at the scene and quickly rushed to hospital by emergency crews.

However, police have since confirmed that he died in hospital two days later on Sunday, August 1.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Boot Lane, Bolton, at about 11.20am on 30 July 2021 to reports of an RTC where a car crashed into a tree.

"A man in his 70s was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to hospital, where he died from his injuries on 1 August.

"Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident."

Police have reported no arrests in connection with the crash.
