Man dies in hospital after being rescued from water in Ardrossan

A man has died after being rescued from water in Ardrossan.

The 57-year-old was recovered from the water after coastguards and police pulled him out near Princes Street shortly after 5.50pm yesterday.

He was then rushed to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.

Now police have tragically confirmed he has died.

The sudden death is being treated as unexplained with no suspicious circumstances.

Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers in Ardrossan can confirm that a 57-year-old man who had been recovered from the water off Princes Street shortly after 5.50pm on Tuesday, 1 June, and taken to Crosshouse Hospital has died.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
