A man who suffered injuries from a firework while attending a vigil has died in hospital.

Police attended the scene on the incident on Huddersfield Road, at the junction with Sandbed Lane, in Delph, shortly before 9pm on November 19.

A 52-year-old man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, with officers saying the casualty was 'injured by a firework' in an 'isolated incident' near the Delph and Dobcross Cricket Club.

In an update today (Wednesday, December 1), authorities said the man had passed away in hospital last Friday (November 26), Manchester Evening News reports.

Officers said that an investigation is ongoing and that they are not looking for anyone else in connection to the fatal incident.

Photos from the scene at the time of the incident indicated that the vigil was being held for Reiss Jarvis and Karl Young.

Both died when a vehicle they were travelling in came off a carriageway and hit a tree in the Delph area on November 10.
