Man dies in horror crash with parked car in Edinburgh

A man has died following a horror crash in Edinburgh.

The 56-year-old driver collided at low speed with a large bin and a parked silver Ford Fiesta on Spottiswoode Road, in the Marchmont area of the city, yesterday.

He was found in the car by two members of the public who administered first aid until the emergency services arrived.

Medics rushed him to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but he sadly passed away.

His family have been informed.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

No one else was injured as a result of the crash and the road re-opened around 11.05 pm.

Inspector Roger Park said: "Officers are carrying out enquiries at the moment to trace a route for the car prior to the collision, however, we would be keen to hear from anyone who has not already spoken to officers, who saw the car in Spottiswoode Road prior to the crash, or any information that may assist with the enquiry to contact us via 101.

"Please quote reference number 2788 of  March 29when calling."
