Man dies in horror car crash on A9 in Stirling

A man has died after a horror car crash in Stirling.

A black Vauxhall Astra crashed around 10pm on the A9 Bannockburn Road at its junction with Braehead Road in the town on Monday.

Andrew Black, from Tullibody, Clackmannanshire, who was the driver and only occupant, was raced to Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

But the 57-year-old was pronounced dead a short time later.

Cops are now probing the incident and have appealed for any dash-camera footage from drivers at the time or for witnesses to come forward.

A police statement reads: "Police Scotland can confirm that a man has died following a road crash in Stirling.

"Around 10pm on Monday, police received a report of a road crash involving a single car on the A9 Bannockburn Road at its junction with Braehead Road in Stirling.

"A 57 year old man - the driver and sole occupant of the black Vauxhall Astra - was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

"His next of kin are aware and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

Sergeant David Marr of the Forth Valley Road Policing Unit said: "Our thoughts are with Mr Black's family and friends at this time.

"We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances which led to this collision.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 3813 of 3 August."
