Police have charged a 33-year-old man with murder following the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in Perth's eastern suburbs two days ago.

A 35-year-old pedestrian was struck by a dark-coloured car just before midnight on Thursday in a car park near Chipping Drive in High Wycombe.

The man died at the scene from his injuries.

Police released an image obtained from CCTV footage showing a dark-coloured sedan seen in the area at the time of the incident.

Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section had been searching for the driver of the car.

Today, police issued a statement saying a 33-year-old man from High Wycombe had been charged with murder, along with failing to stop or report an incident occasioning death.

The man appeared briefly in Perth Magistrates Court this morning and was remanded in custody.

He will next appear in court on April 21.

Anyone with information or dash-cam footage of the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
