Man dies in custody area of Dublin's Criminal Courts of Justice

Gardai have confirmed that a man died in the custody area of the Criminal Courts of Justice today.

The man had "previously been transferred from the custody" of gardai and the matter has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman.

A garda spokesperson told Dublin Live: "An Garda Síochána is aware of the death of a male in the custody area in the Criminal Courts of Justice, Dublin, on Wednesday, 8th December, 2021.

"As this man had previously been transferred from the custody of An Garda Síochána, the matter has been referred to the Garda Síochána Ombudman Commission (GSOC) as required under Section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act.

"An Garda Síochána has no further comment at this time."

Dublin Live has contacted the Courts Service for comment.
