Man dies in car crash at busy junction

A man in his 60's has died following a fatal car crash this morning.

Police, two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle were called to Netherton at around 7am today, March 18, to reports of a crash.

The fatal incident which involved a Hyundai and a Vauxhall Combo, happened on Brooms Cross Road, close to the junction of Dunnings Bridge Road.

The driver of the Hyundai, a man in his 60's, was rushed to hospital following the crash.

He was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this time.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police, said: "The driver of the Vauxhall stopped at the scene to assist with enquiries.

"Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or has any CCTV or dashcam footage and would ask anyone with information to contact @MerPolCC, 101 quoting reference 20000168353 or the Roads Policing Unit on 0151 777 5747."

A spokesperson from North West Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 6:53am.

"We attended with two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle.

"A man was taken to hospital in a critical condition."
