A man was killed after he lost control of his car, which then crashed into a large drain pipe and overturned in Muang district of Kanchanaburi on Saturday night.
Pol Lt Col Jirayu Kotprasit, the deputy chief investigator of Muang police station, said the accident occurred at 7.28pm, on a bypass at Moo 5 village in tambon Pak Phraek.
The victim was identified as Arthit Ruangwongroj, 25, the son of the owner of a well-known noodle shop in Kanchanaburi.
Witnesses said that they saw Arthit's Honda Civic speeding before it skidded off the road while heading towards the Kaeng Sian intersection, apparently to avoid hitting an elderly man who was crossing the road.
Unfortunately, he lost control of the car and crashed.
Rescuers from the Pithakkan Charity Foundation tore the car's doors open and found the driver dead at the scene. Arthit's neck was broken and he had severe injuries to his head and chest from the impact.
Two French bulldogs were also in the car -- one was killed, while the other survived.
Police are still trying to establish the cause of the deadly accident.
