Man dies in Bristol city centre 'medical incident'

A man died in Bristol city centre yesterday (October 16), police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to Lower Castle Street, near the Old Market roundabout, at around 3.20pm.

The road was closed while paramedics worked to save the man.

Police have today confirmed that the man sadly died, but no further details have been released.

It is understood he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said yesterday: “South Western Ambulance Service was called at around 3.20pm to attend an incident on Lower Castle Street, Bristol.

“We sent various resources to attend the incident, including road ambulances and specialist paramedics.”

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called to Lower Castle Street, Bristol, just before 3.30pm to assist the ambulance service by carrying out traffic control while ambulance crews deal with a medical incident in the road.”

The route was shut for almost an hour and a half, with all lanes re-opening by 4.55pm. However, lengthy queues remained throughout rush hour.
