A 51-year-old man was killed in a shooting Monday in Back of the Yards.
The man was found inside a garage with a gunshot wound to his torso about 10:15 a.m. in the 4800 block of South Marshfield Avenue, Chicago police said. A witness said they heard a gunshot before finding the man.
He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:44 a.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
The man was identified as George Arteaga, who lived in the neighborhood, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide, according to an autopsy.
No arrests have been reported. Area One detectives are investigating.
