A man who suffered serious burns in an allegedly domestic-violence-related house fire that killed his female partner has died.

NT Police reported the 36-year-old man's death on Saturday evening.

He died just over a week after the fire, which occurred at about 11pm on Friday, November 5, at the Hidden Valley Town Camp.

A 34-year-old woman, who was the man's partner, was also in the house during the fire.

She was taken to hospital for treatment but died from significant burns two days after.

At the time, Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Schumacher called the woman's death a "needless tragedy" and said police were investigating the case as a homicide.

Senior Sergeant Schumacher said police believed the fire had started after a fight.

He said while police were not yet sure how the blaze began, they could confirm fuel had been used.

He also said several other people had been nearby at the time and tried to put out the fire once it started.

Senior Sergeant Schumacher said the man and woman had been in an on-again, off-again relationship and had at least one child together.

The man had not been charged when he died.

A  report will be prepared for the coroner.
