A 42-year old man has died following a stabbing incident in the West Auckland suburb of Glendene.
It was the second fatal stabbing in West Auckland this weekend.
A woman also died as a result of stab wounds at a Te Atatu address on Saturday night.
A 36-year-old woman has been charged with her murder.
The Glendene incident happened at 9pm last night.
Police were called to an address on Hepburn Road and found a man in a critical condition following a dispute with a group of three or four people.
He was treated at the scene and transported to Auckland Hospital by ambulance where he later died.
Up to a dozen officers are investigating at the scene today.
Three police tents have been erected and officers are clad in white and blue boiler suits.
Some officers appeared to examining some items of black clothing, including a black glove, that were strewn on the grass been.
An open medic pack was next to the clothing.
Other officers appeared to be doing a "sweep" of the street, looking for items that might be related to the incident.
Hepburn St is busy with passing traffic, and the property cordoned off is a few doors down from the Delegat's winery property.
Drops of what appear to be blood can be seen on the footpath inside the cordon, which has closed one lane of the street.
What appears to be a knife is laying on the grass nearby.
Neighbour Natasha Khan said her family heard a lot of arguing on the street at about 9pm.
"There was so much yelling and a lot of arguments, just all down the street.
"There was swearing, and someone saying 'Get out'."
At about 9.30am they heard someone yelling, "Help".
She said a car pulled up to the kerb nearby and two women got out, went towards the commotion and returned with a young man before driving off.
The there were sirens.
"There was lots of sirens and and ambulances with people out on the foot path.
"It just suddenly happened."
The victim lived at the house behind her family's, said Khan.
"He was really nice, he has a family there. It's so sad."
Another neighbour who did not wish to be named said he also heard yelling.
"I never came out, it was just me and my daughter so I didn't want to leave her.
"It must have been loud because I could hear it over the television."
He said he and his wife walked around at night all the time, and he could not believe such a serious incident had happened here.
Natasha's grandfather, Mansoor Ali-Khan, is friends with the victim.
He said the man was a "really good guy" and friendly neighbour.
He had a partner and children that also loved at the house, said Ali-Khan.
"I've known him since we moved here in 2005.
"We started talking over the fence and then we became good friends."
The man would always offer to help him fix his truck.
"About a week ago he came over and we sat and a cigarette and tea, and he told me he knew someone who might need my digger for work.
"That was the last time I saw him."
Ali-Khan was told his neighbour was the victim last night.
"I can't believe it. It's really sad. He's a very good man."
He did not know why the man would have been involved in the arguments on the street.
More information will be released later today.
