Man in his 20s dies following road collision in Co Antrim

A man in his 20s has died following a crash in Co Antrim on Sunday.

The collision involving a car and a pedestrian happened in the Green Drive area of Larne.

Emergency services including the PSNI, Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance NI all attended the scene.

In a statement, an NIAS spokesperson said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 10:23 on Sunday 5 December following reports of a road traffic incident in the Green Drive area of Larne.

“NIAS despatched a Rapid Response Paramedic and two Emergency crews to the scene. NIAS also tasked the Charity Air Ambulance, with HEMS crew on board, to the incident.

“No patients were taken from the scene.”

The road remains closed while police carry out their investigations.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dash-cam footage is asked to contact officers at the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference number 704 of 05/12/21.

Stewart Dickson, Alliance MLA for East Antrim said his thoughts and sympathy were with the man’s family and all concerned.

“This is a very distressing set of circumstances for people to find out about on a Sunday morning and especially for the family of the man concerned.”
