A man has died following a shooting in the Cherry Orchard area of Ballyfermot, west Dublin this morning.
The 'gangland style' shooting happened in the Croftwood Park area at around 11am.
It's understood that gardai are treating the shooting as a "gang-related attack".
Shocked locals in the heavily populated area have told Dublin Live that they heard several shots being fired.
The man, whose age at this stage is still unknown, was treated by paramedics at the scene but sadly died from his injuries.
The area remains sealed off.
A garda statement released in the past few minutes reads: "Gardaí are investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred at a house in the Croftwood Park area of Ballyfermot on 27/07/2020 at approximately 11am.
"A man (age currently unknown) received a number of gunshot wounds and has been pronounced dead at the scene.
"The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination.
"Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information, particularly anyone who was in the area between 10:30am - 11:30am, to contact Ballyfermot Garda Station on 01 666 7200 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
