Man dies following collision involving car and lorry in Nottinghamshire

A man has died after his car was involved in a serious road traffic collision.

The incident took place as the man was driving his car along Bawtry Road, Bircotes, when his vehicle was involved in a collision with a lorry.

The driver of the car, a 31-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.

The crash happened at around 6pm on Tuesday, September 21.

A section of Bawtry Road close to the junction of Snapes Lane was closed as officers carried out investigations.

Just before 5.50am the following day the road had reopened.

Collision investigator Detective Constable Sarah Stables, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this very difficult time. We are working hard to investigate and understand the circumstances of this tragic incident which resulted in a man losing his life”

“We would ask for anyone with information, dash-cam footage or who witnessed the incident to get in touch with us on 101, quoting incident 577 of 21 September 2021.”

The driver of the lorry involved in the incident was unhurt.
