A MAN has died following a crash involving a car and a lorry which led to a stretch of the A9 being closed for several hours.

Police were called to the A9, just south of Dunkeld, at around 6am on Friday following a report of a crash involving a grey Audi A4 and a white Scania HGV.

Emergency services attended, but the driver of the Audi, a 46-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the man’s next of kin have been made aware of his death.

The driver of the lorry was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

The stretch of road was closed for just over 12 hours while detectives carried out their enquiries and for the vehicles to be recovered.

Sergeant David Farr said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this extremely difficult time.

“Our enquiries remain ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or saw either vehicle prior to get in contact with officers.

“I’d also ask that those driving in the area at the time with dash-cam footage review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0530 of 31 July, 2026.
