A man died almost two weeks after being hit by a car in Gresham on the South Side.

Michael Cotton, 60, was pronounced dead about 7 p.m. Sunday at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

On March 3, he was crossing the street about 6:40 a.m. in the 1600 block of West 79th Street when he was hit by a westbound vehicle, Chicago police and the medical examiner’s office said. The vehicle did not stop after the collision.

Autopsy results released Monday found Cotton died from injuries sustained in the crash, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled an accident.

CPD’s Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
