A 21-year-old man died days after a double shooting over the weekend on the Near West Side.

The shooting happened about 9 a.m. Saturday in the 2300 block of West Ogden Avenue, Chicago police said.

Rhazsa Donte Simmons Jr. and another man, 26, were stopped at a red light when another vehicle pulled up next alongside them and two males exited and began shooting, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Simmons Jr. was struck in the head and transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said. He died about 6 p.m. Monday, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The other man, riding as a passenger, was struck in the leg and taken to the same hospital where his condition was stabilized.

No one is in custody, according to police.
