A man died two days after he was shot in Chatham on the South Side.
Darius Pirtle, 23, was pronounced dead about 4:47 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Chicago Medical Center, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
On Monday, he was in his car about 7:15 p.m. in the 8200 block of South Indiana Avenue when someone opened fire, striking him in the head, Chicago police said. He drove off and crashed into a garage.
Autopsy results released Thursday confirmed he died of a gunshot wound to the head and ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said. He lived in Chatham.
