Man dies at Tesco in Silverburn after collapsing inside store

A man has died inside a Glasgow Tesco Extra store.

Emergency services raced to the supermarket at Silverburn shopping centre in Glasgow when the alarm was raised at around 1.10pm on Tuesday.

Police confirmed that the man collapsed on the shop floor.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tesco chiefs confirmed that the store had to close for around one hour.

A spokesman from Police Scotland told the Record: "At around 1.10pm today, Tuesday, April 28 a man collapsed and died in the Tesco store in Barrhead Road in Glasgow. 

"He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

"The Procurator Fiscal will be informed. 

"There are no suspicious circumstances."

A Tesco spokeswoman told the Record: "We can confirm that emergency services attended our store at Glasgow, Silverburn today.

"We can also confirm that the store was closed for around one hour."

When the Daily Record approached Silverburn for comment a representative said that they 'would not be able to comment on individual stores'.
