Man dies at Scots golf course after taking unwell

A man has tragically passed away after taking unwell at a Scots golf course.

The alarm was raised at Carnoustie Golf Links at around 7pm on Wednesday with police and paramedics called to the scene.

Staff at the club also provided first aid while they awaited the arrival of first responders.

But the man, whose age is not currently known, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

It is understood that his death is being treated as a medical matter.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: “Officers were called around 7.10pm to Links Parade, Carnoustie following reports a man had taken ill.

“He was pronounced dead at the scene and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

A spokesman for Carnoustie Golf Links told the Courier: “We responded to a first aid incident on the course last night and undertook first aid until the ambulance arrived.”

The Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
