Man dies as air ambulance called to 'medical emergency' in Stapleford

A man died after emergency services were called to a property in Nottinghamshire. A helicopter from East Midlands Ambulance Service was seen landing at the Ilkeston Ground in Stapleford after reports of a 'medical emergency' at around 3.30pm on Wednesday (September 21).

Paramedics in two ambulance cars and a crewed ambulance was also in attendance. Witnesses have described the scene, with a number of police cars and ambulances called to an address on Canberra Close.

A 69-year-old man was found 'unresponsive' on his driveway, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed. He died at the scene.

A spokesperson for East Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 3.27pm yesterday, Wednesday 21 September, to a private address in Stapleford, Nottingham. The caller reported a medical emergency.

"We sent a Community First Responder in a fast response car, two paramedics in two ambulance cars and a crewed ambulance. The air ambulance was also in attendance."

Nottinghamshire Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious. Inspector Mike Ebbins, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Emergency services were called to Canberra Close, Stapleford, just after 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 21 September) following reports of a man being found unresponsive on his driveway.

“The 69-year-old man sadly died at the scene and a file is being prepared for the coroner. The death is not believed to be suspicious and our thoughts are with his family at this extremely difficult time.”
